STRENGTHS - Bassett shows a great knack for making big plays in big moments because he is consistently around the ball. He shows great hustle and smarts. His has shown the ability to be successful playing the tackle and end positions. As a pass rusher he does a nice job of using multiple moves and hand usage to get off blocks and pressure the pocket.
WEAKNESSES - Cooper does not show an explosive step at the snap which allows blockers to get into their sets as an edge rusher. On misdirection plays he does struggle to redirect which is due to a lack of agility and flexibility. When playing inside he can get pushed around in double teams, even with a strong base but is undersized.
SUMMARY - Atheltically Cooper Bassett is limited for defensive end, but thru out his Okie St. career he continuously finds ways to make impact plays. He is very assignment sound and has shown great versatility with his ability to play both inside and out when called upon. He plays strong at the point of attack and consistently finds ways to get off blocks to be active around the ball or hold his ground. Rarely does he allow blockers to seal him off, which allows plays to get funneled back inside to the linebackers or trailing linemen. Overall, he merits a 7th round pick and would add nice depth as a rotational player, but could spend some time on a practice squad which would give him more time to develop either more explosiveness off the edge or add more bulk depending on what type of team picks him up and whether they would play him inside or outside.
